Job Title: Mod/Severe Special Education Teacher

Location: Walnut Creek, CA – Local School District

Assignment Dates: August 6, 2025 – June 4, 2026

Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours/week (7.5 hours/day, aligned with school bell schedule)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Moderate/Severe Special Education Teacher to join our local school district in Walnut Creek, CA, for the 2025–2026 school year. This full-time role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about supporting students with significant needs and committed to creating an inclusive, structured, and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized academic instruction to students with moderate to severe disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Implement behavior support strategies and manage challenging behaviors using positive behavioral interventions.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, general education teachers, and families.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings.
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Create a safe and supportive classroom environment that promotes student independence and growth.

Qualifications:

  • Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Mod/Severe).
  • Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities.
  • Strong behavior management skills and a willingness to support students with behavioral challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized academic and behavioral strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or similar training.
  • Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, following the school district’s bell schedule, for a total of 37.5 hours per week.
