Adelphi is seeking highly qualified and certified Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialists to provide school-based services to students with visual impairments across educational settings in Texas. The ideal candidate will support students in developing safe, independent travel skills and accessing the educational environment through personalized instruction and adaptive strategies.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Orientation and Mobility or related field from an accredited program.
• Current O&M certification through the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP).
• Valid Texas licensure/certification as required by the state for school-based O&M service providers.
• Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, including those with multiple disabilities.
• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and specialized service documentation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel between schools and community locations as needed.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive orientation and mobility assessments to determine student needs.
• Develop and implement individualized O&M goals as part of each student’s IEP.
• Provide direct instruction in indoor and outdoor navigation, cane techniques, and use of adaptive mobility aids.
• Support students in developing safe, independent travel skills in school, home, and community settings.
• Train students in sensory awareness, spatial orientation, and environmental navigation strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers of the visually impaired, general education staff, families, and related service providers.
• Participate in ARD/IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team decisions.
• Maintain detailed documentation, progress reports, and service logs in compliance with legal and procedural standards.
• Stay informed of best practices and assistive technologies in O&M service delivery.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
