Job Description

We are looking for a Freelance Packaging Designer for a top fashion company in New York City. The Packaging Designer is responsible for assisting in the design of packaging and display concepts, within licensed & Private Label brand guidelines from concept through final approved “ready for press” files. Creative solutions must effectively communicate product attributes within brand guidelines and cost parameters. Problem solves obstacles or challenges to keep design work on track, including limited development time, construction, and cost engineering. This position will start immediately and will be fully on-site in their New York office.

Responsibilities:

• Work with Packaging Team to conceptualize, develop and implement design strategies across print and digital communications
• Create and execute packaging & display mechanicals ready for press (rfp)
• Partner with all packaging designers to drive efficiency in the design and production file release process (packaging tech pack)
• Product Photo retouching & create renderings as needed for packaging/displays and product
• Mock up product displays for our retailers in advance of production in order to provide a visual representation of the final product

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors in related field packaging or communication design
• 4-6 years of experience in packaging design, and POS displays
• Portfolio that demonstrates packaging skills
• Strong sense of design, typography and color
• Experience with licensed branding and interoperating brand style guides
• Expert level Adobe Creative Suite skills required
• Strong creativity, conceptualization, execution, organization and design skills
• Strong knowledge of photography & photo re-touching
• PLM experience
